Physio First - A member organisation run by volunteers.

At Physio First, our strength lies in our volunteers, and we believe that every member acts as a volunteer, demonstrating a commitment to private physiotherapy. Volunteering doesn’t require a significant time commitment; each member can contribute in various ways that suit their availability.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Share events and social media posts
  • Provide feedback and ideas
  • Respond to queries on LinkedIn
  • Connect with other members
  • Promote Physio First to other private physiotherapists
  • Communicate marketplace information to our office team
  • Host events
  • Review articles for "In Touch"
  • Join committees and working groups
  • Use your specialist skills to assist on specific topics

Physio First is operated by volunteers, including our executive team, while our office team provides ongoing support to all volunteers and members.

The benefits of volunteering for Physio First are invaluable. By contributing, you positively impact the physiotherapy community, especially for private physiotherapists across the United Kingdom. You will gain access to numerous learning and development opportunities, acquiring valuable experience in business, decision-making, networking, and leadership. Additionally, you'll likely build a support network that lasts throughout your career.

Community Representatives

Members who wish to take on a more permanent volunteer role may become community representatives. This position is perfect for those already enjoying their volunteer experiences or for anyone eager to commit to a specific role for a designated period. It allows for greater involvement and a deeper understanding of the organisation’s current projects and goals.

Community representatives are elected by the membership at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and serve two-year terms. They are expected to attend six one-hour Zoom meetings each year, as well as one to two day-long in-person meetings. In addition to the regular volunteer expectations, community representatives are the first to be asked for support and to participate in key projects at Physio First.

Executive Committee

Our executive committee are responsible for managing and guiding our organisation in response to the needs and views of our members. The committee includes:

  • Chair
  • Honorary Communications & Membership Officer
  • Honorary Community Representative Lead
  • Honorary Commercial Officer
  • Honorary Research and Development Officer
  • Honorary Education Officer

Executive committee members typically start as community representatives and focus on areas or projects that interest them the most.
