New HCPC Standards September 2023
What are these?
- Standards of Physiotherapy practice aimed at a more personalised approach to patient care to protect the public and raise standards of care
- A road map for all registered physiotherapists to follow in order to exercise their duty of care to their patient
- What we already do but written in a systematic way
- Written for the whole profession, so you only need to identify those standards applicable to YOUR practice
What these are NOT?
- Daunting or threatening. You will meet most of the standards by your everyday practice
- About policies, procedures or mandatory training required by all physiotherapists
- Anything to do with running the business aspects of your practice, or your role as an employer
What has Physio First done to help?
We have simply put the standards into a checklist to enable you to;
- Be clear about those areas that are within your scope of practice
- Note how YOU meet each standard during your practice. This may be useful in the future, so keep this up to date
- Identify any areas that you may need to action to meet the standard
REMEMBER these are only considered if you should have a “fitness to practice” charge brought against you. You may need to evidence how you meet the standards applicable to you.
