Edinburgh Sports Injury Clinic

Charlotte Brown

I’m Charlotte, a Chartered Physiotherapist (BSc Hons) registered with the HCPC and CSP, with additional qualifications in sports massage and Pilates. Since joining ESIC full-time in 2020, I have specialised in treating musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries for clients of all ages - from active children to experienced athletes. Whether you’re recovering from injury, improving performance, or simply wanting to move more freely and confidently, my aim is to help you return to the activities you enjoy and stay strong long term.

My own experience with sports injuries highlighted the vital role of the core and pelvic floor in recovery and overall movement. As part of my assessments and treatment plans, I use Real Time Ultrasound Scanning to support rehabilitation for a wide range of conditions, including postnatal recovery, incontinence, and injury prevention.

I first discovered physiotherapy as a patient after being diagnosed with scoliosis while competing as a rhythmic gymnast. Through focused rehabilitation centred on muscle balance, pelvic alignment, and progressive core strengthening, I not only returned to competition but improved my performance. That journey inspired my passion for rehabilitation and movement, and ultimately led me into this profession.

Today, I’m driven by the same belief that effective treatment goes beyond symptom relief. I focus on identifying the root cause of pain, improving movement patterns and biomechanics, and helping people build long-term resilience so they can continue doing what they love with confidence.

Outside of work, I have a strong sporting background in gymnastics, competitive sailing, and horse riding — disciplines that have shaped my appreciation for strength, precision, and body awareness. I still ride and sail regularly, and you’ll often find me in the gym or out walking my dog.
