Overview
This interactive session is designed to enhance clinicians’ knowledge and confidence in the assessment and management of drop foot.
The course will explore a range of treatment approaches, including hands-on therapy techniques, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), orthotic options, and exercise prescription.
We will also have a workshop from Kiran Khela – Neurological Occupational Therapist at Physiofunction on tips and hints for self-management of donning and doffing shoes and socks with a drop foot.
Attendees will also benefit from discussion and peer learning in a collaborative and supportive environment.
This event is free to attend and open to all HCPC-registered physiotherapists and final-year students. Booking is essential as places are limited.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate increased confidence in the assessment and exercise prescription for drop foot
- Effectively signpost patients to appropriate orthotic services
- Understand the benefits of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and how to access relevant services
Develop skills in promoting client independence in don and doff socks and footwear with a drop foot.

- Date: Wednesday 8th July 2026
- Time: 5:30pm – Arrival, registration refreshments, including homemade pizza from our Doughability kitchen, with time to network with local therapists
- 6:00pm – 8:00pm – Interactive clinical workshop: assessment and management of drop foot
