This year’s Scottish Physio First Conference is on 16th/17th November at our prestigious and fabulous new venue, The Stirling Highland Hotel, Stirling.

On Saturday 17th November we are delighted to have Dr Claire Minshull as our main speaker, presenting on the efficacy of neuromuscular conditioning, optimising rehabilitation, and rehabilitating muscle strength.

Mr David Baker ESP will present on pain and pharmacology management.

Celia Champion from Painless Practice will give an overview of business hints and tips for private practice practitioners. A Physio First update including questions/answers on the Physio First current topics will also take place.

On the evening of Friday 16th November you are invited to an informal dinner at The Stirling Highland Hotel, followed by the unique opportunity of touring the ancient observatory and gazing at the night skies. Our main sponsor is Online Ergonomics and we will have a wide range of other trade stands to browse and plenty of opportunity to network with other delegates.

Registration times - Friday Night registration will be at 6.45pm, and Saturday will start with registration at 8.45am and finish at 4.30pm.

Cancellation policy

Physio First's education sub committee have put the following policy in place as of June 2018:

· There will be a £30 admin charge for cancellation at anytime

· 60 days (16 September) will result in a 75% admin charge

· Within 30 days of the event (17 October onwards), no refund will be issued

Physio First reserves the right to change venue, cancel (or reschedule) at any time. In this case, course fees will be fully refunded to the attendee but Physio First is not responsible for external travel, hotel or other expenses incurred.

Painless Practice Director

Celia Champion

Celia Champion offers support to physiotherapists on the non-clinical side of running a clinic.  Drawing on her successful business background, her coaching qualifications and her work with hundreds of clients, over thousands of hours in dozens of sectors, she coaches, trains and supports physiotherapists to run better, more successful practices.  This includes support in developing the overall strategy for the practice in the long-term, medium-term and short-term as well as marketing and people management. She has co-authored two books, one specific to practice management. Celia speaks and writes widely on the topic.

David Baker

David brings together his unique skills as ESP, MSK Sonographer, experienced injection therapist, and lecturer to the website. David works as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist in the NHS, working extensively with diagnostic ultrasound since 2007 and studied for his formal Pg Cert at Canterbury Christ Church University. He has further developed his special interest in ultrasound guided injection therapy.

David also qualified as a Non-medical Prescriber in 2008. In addition, David works as visiting lecturer at London, City University, Department of Applied Biological, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences. David presented at the CSP Congress 2010 and is a member of the CSP’s Medicines Management Advisory Group. David is Clinical Director at Complete Physiotherapy Limited – a chain of London based sports injuries clinics.

Claire Minshull

Claire is one of the most highly respected rehabilitation specialists in the UK. She has worked in the field of sports medicine and health for 20 years as a Senior Lecturer, Researcher, Consultant and as a Practitioner. She has designed, led and managed major clinical and nonclinical research trials, supervised several PhD students, and has published over 30 research papers in leading peer-reviewed sports medicine journals. She is regularly invited to speak at national and international academic and professional symposia, writes for sports magazines and, serves as expert reviewer for many scientific peer-reviewed journals. Claire’s research and teaching interests include the influences of exercise, training and rehabilitation on dynamic joint stability, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal performance. Her work also focuses on assessing neuromuscular function optimally and developing specialised rehabilitation protocols for enhancing function and performance. Claire’s area of expertise means that she uniquely spans the gap between the physiology of conditioning and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation. She founded Get Back To Sport to enable the transference of research findings into enhancing clinical practice, and and has developed the teaching portfolio that now has an international reach.
