Medbelle & Physio First member scheme FAQ's
Why might Physio First work with Medbelle?
Medbelle have been willing to publicly endorse the Physio First DfI and Quality Assured Clinic (QAC) scheme, and this opportunity to work together arose from the Physio First Commercial Team’s discussions with a Medbelle team who have premised their business on “the quality agenda” which is their shared belief that the future of private healthcare will be based upon evidenced value.
So, in discussing how to work cogently together, something that no other healthcare provider organisation and UK virtual hospital group have been able to do, Physio First and Medbelle devised the Medbelle Physio First member scheme that offers value to the patient, the physiotherapy clinic and Medbelle.
Our Physio First executive is looking at this as a practical opportunity to help demonstrate our members’ value and, it makes perfect sense to do this through our QACs and active DfIers who are registered with and therefore working to become QACs because:
- Medbelle contract by “clinic”, which makes either being, or being registered to become, a QAC, a perfect platform because all MSK physiotherapists in a practice will be signed up to collect data through our DfI scheme
- our Physio First DfI and QAC schemes are completely controlled by Physio First, making them a safe place to collect and have our patient outcome data analysed i.e. none of it will go to any third party including Medbelle, but the
- the Medbelle Physio First member scheme will help Medbelle collect post-surgical patient outcome data, as part of our relationship
By way of reassurance, you will not be asked to share any DfI data with Medbelle, nor will Physio First share any of our DfI data with them, we do expect our relationship to lead to additional discussions about demonstrating value through patient outcomes – something that is starting to be talked more about within private healthcare, but which many stakeholders do not have the means to do.
What are the requirements to take part in the Medbelle Physio First member scheme?
There are two basic requirements:
1. You are either:
a) an established QAC
OR
b) registered to actively collect data through the Physio First Data for Impact scheme
AND
2. You are willing to give the University of Brighton your consent to confirm to Physio First, that your clinic(s) are registered for QAC (To register please see here)
Please do remember that if you are a QAP and you are a sole practitioner, or the only physio doing MSK in your practice, you will have met all the criteria for becoming a QAC, so you just need to sign that declaration to our UoB team and, once confirmed with them, let our Physio First team know to be acknowledged as a QAC. To contact our UoB team please use: [email protected]
For details of:
- our QAC Participation Programme, please download the word doc here.
- the consent form to confirm your willingness to allow the University of Brighton to confirm to Physio First, that your clinic(s) are registered for QAC, please download the word doc here.

What does "being registered for QAC" mean?
It means that a practice principal is a full member of Physio First and that every MSK member of your clinic team is either:
- a full or affiliate member of Physio First i.e. someone who is already entitled to participate in the Physio First Data for Impact scheme and therefore able to help a member’s clinic to become a QAC
OR - an employed or self-employed part of your clinic team and someone who the practice principal has joined via the QAC Participant Programme.
The QAC Participation Programme is something that the Physio First executive committee have created to make it less expensive for Full Member practice principals to work towards becoming a QAC.
Again, please do remember that if you are a QAP and you are a sole practitioner, or the only physio doing MSK in your practice, you will have met all the criteria for becoming a QAC, so you just need to sign that declaration to our UoB team and, once confirmed with them, let our Physio First team know to be acknowledged as a QAC. What is a QAC Participant?
A QAC Participant is an employed or self-employed member of a full Physio First member’s clinic who that practice principal is entitled to sign-up as a QAC Participant.
A QAC Participant:
- is NOT a member of Physio First
- is a new category of DfI participant that the Physio First executive have created to make it easier and less expensive for full member practice principals to register their clinic MSK colleagues to the Physio First DfI Scheme in order to work towards becoming, a QAC.
