PPEF Annual Case Study Competition -

Each year, the Private Physiotherapy Educational Foundation will provide a prize of £150 for the best case study presented by a Chartered Physiotherapist.

The competition has been instigated to encourage physiotherapists to understand the importance of case studies as part of critical appraisal, the move to evidence-based practice and to support continuing professional development.

Sharing experience can also be an important way of communicating with others who may not have experienced similar cases or who may have approached the problems differently.

A key objective of the PPEF is to support research and the Trustees hope that the debate that case studies will engender will lead to important research questions being asked and addressed by researchers.

The winning case study will be published in In Touch.

The competition is judged in February each year and entries must be submitted by 31st December.

Draft Guidelines for Case study submissions

Each case study should include the following details, and should not exceed 1500 words.

  1. Patient details (anonymised)
  2. Presenting complaint / symptoms
  3. Chronological history of presenting complaint, including its current status and behaviour
  4. Past history relevant to presenting complaint, and other significant past history
  5. Medications
