WELCOME TO OUR 2017 CONFERENCE!
"2017 is going to be a corker!"
This year's theme encompasses all aspects of the exciting offering that is conference 2017 – we want lectures for the clinical critical thinker, the business astute and the innovators open to listening to cutting edge ideas.
01-02 April 2017 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.
So often, over the years, Physio First has been proud to see the lecturers, and topics discussed at our conferences becoming mainstream a couple of years later… to be ahead of the game, you need to be there to listen to what’s happening now in private physiotherapy, and what’s to come
COMING YOUR WAY...
"Our keynote international speakers will deliver lectures for immediate practical application"
Paul Hodges continues the clinical reasoning journey of treating low back pain, as well as presenting the physio's role in men’s health – we have been used to highlighting women's health in musculoskeletal and sport for many years, now it’s time for the men.Tania Pizzari attended our conference a couple of years ago with one of her students (Lynn Watson), and we were so impressed with Tania's knowledge, skills and understanding of our need for practical applications from research, that we asked her to come and present for us this year. I don’t know about you, but I can never get enough information on dealing with shoulders and tendinopathies.
Igor Tak comes highly recommended after presenting at recent sports conferences with a clinical take on ‘Will biomechanics guide us in the assessment and treatment of groin injury?’, and Ian Horsley will be fresh from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games where he has been part of the medical team. Both Ian, and Phil Glasgow, who is hopping over from Northern Ireland where he is head of sports medicine at the sports institute, will be presenting practical, clinical lectures on exercise and rehabilitation.
James Butler of Painless Practice has a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping private physios in business and is now helping our organisation in achieving our ambitious aims for our own future businesses. Painless Practice will also be offering free expert business surgeries bookable in advance. From the USA we have Rich Katz who has ‘been there and done that’ in relation to setting up successful networks of physios to benefit all in business, and in working with the insurance sector in the States. He has been already been a mine of information to Physio First in what works, and at conference will share knowledge that you simply won’t hear anywhere else. So if you are interested in future-proofing our profession, and your own practice, these presentations are not to be missed.
Last, but not least, Dylan Morrissey is a home grown, multi-talented physio, and we have asked for his insights into ‘the what and the how: a mixed methods perspective on pathways and knowledge translation for modern physiotherapy’.
AND MUCH MORE...
"Look out for exclusive conference discounts, competitions and prize draws which are going to be better than ever!"
We are delighted to return once again to The East Midlands Conference Centre, where we are looked after so well. I do hope many of you enjoy our conference and trade exhibition launch on Friday afternoon. A glass of wine, some music and retail therapy is surely a great way to start the weekend…
For 2017 we are refreshing our trade stand area and continue to welcome new exhibitors who are offering innovative and exciting new products, as well as our regular, loyal clinic services providers who are proven past favourites with our delegates. So, bring your clinic shopping list and look out for exhibitors' exclusive conference discounts, competitions and prize draws.
Our Physio First Regional Officers will be easily recognisable during the weekend. Please say hello and put a face to the name of your own Regional Officer. Our organisation relies on our members' feedback to make the right changes and go forward effectively, so have your say directly to your regional representative. Also in the Atrium we have Physio First subgroups including Membership, and Research and Development. Here you can obtain information and help with issues such as our private Linked-In forum, and how to input your Data for Impact, directly from those who have the expertise.
Our Physio First AGM will be held at the end of conference on Saturday and is open to all current Physio First members so please do come along.
Without the unswerving support of our exhibitors and sponsors, conference could not be delivered to you at such amazing value. So bring your Body, Brain and Business to Nottingham to gain exclusive knowledge, unique benefits and professional inspiration from our conference weekend. If we can help with anything at all during your time with us, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our Conference Committee, Regional Officers or our Physio First team in the Atrium.

I think that the most recent conference cemented Physio First's place as a progressive education provider -- it was dynamic and well designed, and everyone I spoke with was fully engaged and highly stimulated. I predict a surge of enthusiasm for next year's conference on the back of that, and wish it every success as usual!
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this year’s conference. The speakers were superb and I’ve found myself mentioning ideas from their talks over and over again already. This is exactly what I had hoped to gain from the conference. I have attended almost all of the last possibly 10 years conferences and I honestly think this was the best yet. Thank you so much for the great organisation, from the friendly and helpful Physio First staff to all those at the conference centre and hotel.
